UNESCO awarded its International Music Prize 2005 to 'Zorba the Greek' composer Mikis Theodorakis for his contributions to understanding between cultures and the advancement of peace

He said that the Greeks revere "great" figures such as Pericles while the Jews "only had Abraham and Jacob, shadows ... Today, one can say that this small people is at the root of evil, not of good, which means that too much self-importance and too much stubbornness is evil."
