Is it 1932?

Columnist Richard Cohen is a hardcase liberal with a nasty case of Bush Derangement Syndrome, so when the day comes that he finds himself in agreement with my views, well, it is a day worth noting. He writes today about Hamas:

History has seen this sort of thing before. The rule - the only rule - is to take zealots at their word.
If you would have asked a random German in, say, 1932 if he was voting for the murder of Jews, he would have said, "Nein!" What he really wanted was an end to the brawling in the streets and a big thumbs-up to traditional German culture.
They mean what they say. For the Nazi, it was all in their bible, "Mein Kampf," and in their rallies and speeches.
It took some effort to overlook their stated intentions, but a considerable number of people managed to do so and later professed shock at what happened. They looked into the abyss, saw nothing that concerned them personally - and went back to sleep.

Despite some apologizing here for daring to use the Nazi comparison, Cohen has got it right. Then he does a little bit of soothsaying, which I fear is already coming to pass:

In due course we will be told that what Hamas has been insisting on for years - the utter destruction of Israel - is not really a serious goal. Hamas will be forced to moderate by the reality of governing. As for its truculent anti-Semitism - not to be confused in this case with anti-Zionism - it will be dismissed as without consequence.

And here's a reminder of things the appeasing West is already trying so hard to forget:

Hamas, on the other hand, can be traced back to the Muslim Brotherhood and its 1928 declaration: "The Koran Is Our Constitution." It gleefully sends people off to their death as suicide bombers, spackling the walls of Tel Aviv restaurants with the flesh of the innocent while assuring the bombers a place in paradise. This is terrifying. That is the whole idea.

Now here's the kicker:

From here on they will lie about their ultimate aim and smilingly assure us that what they have always said they no longer mean. All over the world, people will believe them and urge the U.S. and Israel to do the same. Take my word for this. Anyone can see the future. It's all in the past.

And as a perfect example, The Washington Post gives up a chunk of editorial space to Mousa Abu Marzook, the deputy political bureau chief of the "Islamic Resistance Movement" (Hamas).
Although he starts with Cohen's suspected flowery prose and bows to "peace", it is not long before the spigot opens and the bilge begins to flow:

The failed policies of the U.S. administration are the result of the inherent contradiction in its position as Israel's strongest ally and an "honest broker" in the conflict. World nations have condemned the brutal Israeli occupation. For the sake of peace, the United States must abandon its position of isolation and join the rest of the world in calling for an end to the occupation, assuring the Palestinians their right to self-determination.

So we are being called upon, folks, to turn on Isreal and help the world drive the Jews into the sea. Nice of the WaPo to give this terrorist Op-ed space; now how 'bout some time for the American Nazi Party? Why not, if you are gonna print this crap??

For the truth which the liberal media cannot provide, check out The Zionist Conspiracy {here: http://jschick.blogspot.com/ } to compare our Hamas spokesman's words with the Hamas charter, which as far as I know, is still in full effect....

Don't waste your time with me, Marzook. I know the face of Hamas; and it is this one:

We won't get fooled again.
