So ObamaCare Comes To New Jersey...

...dragging satchelfuls of other people's money in order to pay for health insurance for those who have none.

The virtual bureaucrats stand on the corner, ringing a bell, shouting "Hear yee, hear yee! Come to us on bended knee with your ailments, your wounds, your fevers, your pox and your distemper, and we will pay for your leeches!"

And, much to their surprise....no one comes to lay a claim:

Just two people in New Jersey will begin receiving coverage Monday under new plans created by federal health care reforms.

NJ Protect plans are available to those who have been without insurance for at least six months and submit evidence of pre-existing health conditions.

The state will receive $141 million in federal subsidies to cover claims that exceed the premiums paid by the beneficiaries.

Two policies are available, with premiums ranging from $212 to $768 monthly, depending on age....

All that stolen money, and you still need almost $800- a month to get health insurance?

The question, of course, is why so little interest in this program. The easiest answer is that it hasn't been publicized enough; once folks know they can get their health care paid for by someone else, they'll be lining the streets for their fair share.

Maybe. Or maybe...folks are becoming ashamed of being looters? Despite Obama and the Democrats desire to create two Americas - one that works and creates wealth, the other that does neither but simply takes - is it possible that Americans do not like being moochers? Morality has a funny way of working around politics; and arriving at D.C. last and late. Perhaps, at a time when every American is aware of the nation's perilous financial situation, few of them want to be seen as part of the problem, part of the looting class, part of the segment of society that takes, but never gives back. Almost...a sense of shame, actually, for being on the receiving ends of services they have not earned.

Don't like that theory? Here's another - that the "under-insured" population of this country was never as big as the proponents of ObamaCare made it out to be. Sure, it was a useful cudgel for both Democrats and the media to use to beat up on those oppose to this misguided "reform", but did it have an basis in reality? Apparently not. Seems like a lot of those who are "under-insured" are well aware of their situation and prefer it to coughing up another $700-$800 a month in order to be covered in a way Nancy Pelosi feels they should. Wonder how these folks will take to being forced to purchase the plan Barack, Michelle, and Nancy decide is best for them and their families....

Maybe if the Democrats spend another $100 million in taxpayer money promoting the plan, they may get a few more takers. In the meantime, it looks as if your health care choices were ripped from your hands, and given to the government, so that two uninsured people could get additional coverage. A fair trade-off for giving up the world's best medical service, realistic wait times, and control over your own - and your family's - medical treatment? Only for the lucky two, I suppose, and the government, who now stands to control the entirety of the medical establishment.

Well, that's socialism for you.
