Cover-up: Gabrielle Giffords targeted for being Jewish?

When a Muslim cabby was slashed in New York City a few months ago, the media was quick to blame anti-Islamic sentiment (by the Right and by the Tea Party, of course) and call for a moratorium on violent rhetoric - all while the fate of the Ground Zero mosque was being discussed, of course. When it turned out that the perp was a left-wing Mosque supporter, well - the media dropped the story and returned to puff-pieces about happy squirrels...

But what I find interesting is why the media absolutely refuses to raise the question of Congresswoman's Giffford's faith. She is Jewish, the first Jewish congressperson from the state of Arizona. In and of itself that could be coincidental, but being that Jared Loughner lists Mein Kamp as one of his favorite books, well - don't you think it is odd a few alarm bells didn't go off? Imagine if a Muslim in a similar situation were killed by an assassin with pockets full of Tea Party literature - the media would go nuts? But a pioneering Jew killed by a man who professed love for Hitler's classic tome? Strangely, the media is silent.

Homeland Security, less so:

A U.S. Department of Homeland Security memo reportedly notes that Gabriel Giffords is Jewish in describing the motives of the Arizona congresswoman's alleged assailant.

The memo, obtained by Fox News Channel, says that Jared Lee Loughner mentioned American Renaissance, an extremist anti-immigrant group, in some of his own postings.

"The group's ideology is anti-government, anti-immigration, anti-ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti-Semitic," says the memo sent to law enforcement, which also notes that Giffords, a Democrat, was the first Jewish congresswoman from Arizona.

Giffords, 40, was raised "mixed" by a Christian Scientist mother and Jewish father, but said she decided she was Jewish only following a visit to Israel in 2001. She attended services at a local Reform synagogue.

In a recent photo, she posed with the new U.S. House of Representatives speaker, Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio), at her swearing-in with her hand on the Five Books of Moses.

For their part, American Renaissance
denies any connection to the shooter, but this group most likely had more influence on Loughner than anything Sarah Palin ever said, especially as Lougner apparently started planning this slaying years ago, before Palin was even a blip on the media radar.

But why isn't the media asking the question and/or trying to make the connection, between an anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel group and the assassination attempt of a Jewish, pro-Israel, pro-immigration Congresswoman?

Would ruin the narrative, I suppose. Would make them look rather stupid, too, which is what I believe they are most likely to fear. After all, they have already jumped to their conclusion that "the Tea Party did it", and while that has appeared to have been demonstrably false five minutes into the aftermath of Saturday's bloodbath, the media realized to recant their accusations would make them appear even more knee-jerk and reactionary than usual, so they press ahead with their storyline, and ignore the more dangerous clues left behind by Loughner, clues that may actually prevent a similar slaying in the not-so-distant-future.

Addtionally, the Left sees an opportunity here to silence the critics of their governing philosophy at a critical juncture, at the point where Obamacare may be disrupted and prevented from taking hold, and when prized social welfare programs are in serious danger, for the first time, of being cut. To silence opposition now would give additional life to the progressive cause, in fact, it might be the only thing that protects it against the massive upswell of public anger against it.

And how much energy has the media put into the "Americans are Islamaphobic" meme as well? Katie Couric beclowned herself the other day when she called American bigotry against Muslims "disturbing", this despite a report that
showed:

Anti-Semitic incidents, which made up 37 percent of the reported hate crimes, were up 15 percent in one year, from 219 in 2008 to 251 in 2009.

Crimes motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment rose from eight to 11.

That didn't bother Katie, though. And now Gabrielle Giffords is shot in the head. Does silence equal assent, Katie? Or are you so hung up on the liberal group-thought that your fellow Americans are Muslims-haters that when the truth comes out, and it is a young Jewish woman that lies shot in the streets, you blithely ignore it and turn your head, all to protect your own frail ego?

Finally, to point out the anti-Semitic aspects of the Giffords attack might force to media to show that one of the biggest drivers of anti-Israel, anti-Semitic hate crimes might be...
the Obama administration:

Israeli bulldozers cleared the way for 20 new homes for Jews in East Jerusalem by demolishing a derelict hotel Sunday, in a settlement project that angered Palestinians and drew criticism from the United States...

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in Abu Dhabi on a tour of U.S. Gulf Arab allies, said: "This disturbing development undermines peace efforts to achieve the two-state solution. In particular, this move contradicts the logic of a reasonable and necessary agreement between the parties on the status of Jerusalem."

If the American government will not even tolerate Jews building homes in their won capital, how can Jared Loughner tolerate being represented by one?

Just asking. B ecause the media won't....

Apparently The killer's mom is also Jewish. Per his friend the reason for Mein Kampf: "Tierney believes that Loughner was very interested in pushing people's buttons—and that may have been why he listed Hitler's Mein Kampf" http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/01/jared-lee-loughner-friend-voicemail-phone-message# Perhaps we can stop jumping to conclusions.
