Viewing Tim Tebow From Down Under

...and learning that liberals in the Southern Hemisphere are equal to, or greater than, their douchebag brethren here in the USA.

Peter FitzSimons from the Sydney Daily Herald:

ONE-KNEED FANS

''Tebowing''. This new word in the American lexicon refers, no kidding, to people who kneel on one knee with head bowed - a la Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow - every time they want to thank their god for allowing them to do something so fabulous on the sports field. The closest Australian word is probably ''public wankery''.

A view also held by American Left, who are too cowardly to come out and say it, preferring to snipe from the sidelines like the perennial bench-warmers that they are.

What a wanker...

I like the phrase "their god" (small "g").  Not his, FitzSimon assures us. Which reminds me of a part of the Passover Seder, where  four metaphorical sons of differing temperament ask questions about the ritual meal:

The Torah spoke about four sons, one wise, one wicked, one simple and one who cannot formulate a question....

What does the wicked son say? "What does this Avodah (worship) mean Lakhem (to you)"? "To you" [meaning] and "not to him". Since he excluded himself from the community, he has denied the basic principle. You should also set his teeth on edge and say to him: "It is on account of this that Hashem did for me when I left Egypt" "for me" and not "for him" - had he been there, he would not have been redeemed.

FitzSimons, in mocking Tebow and "his" God, excludes himself from one community and closets himself within the cold embrace of another. He's entitled, of course. But should he ever need to look up to heaven and ask "please", well...he should not be surprised if "their" God does not recognize his cry...
